A cool thing happened when finalizing the mixes today with Davide Raso. We actually were able to categorize the music into a genre. Granted it’s not an existing genre, but a genre yes indeed. Check it out: ”Modern Americana” or “Pan Americana” or “Americana Fusion”. Hey, we know it’s at least a type of Americana huh?!
The primary types of musical influences that really jump out of the mix are Bluegrass, Latin, and Classical (yes Classical). This on a Rock-n-Roll/R&B foundation. All those hours of listening to Bill Monroe, Earl Scruggs, Del McCoury, Cachao, Mongo Santamaria, Patato, The Afro-Cuban Allstars, Bach, and Beethoven actually paid off!
Anyhow, I’m very happy and look forward to completing the album. I hope these songs move other music lovers the way they’ve moved me.
